Professional background

Big-firm experience, without the big-firm layers.

Fidel Dela Paz is a patent and trade marks attorney registered in Australia and New Zealand, with more than 20 years of experience in the intellectual property profession, gained at some of the largest IP firms in Sydney and Perth.

Fidel is now part of Dentons Patent Attorneys, based in Dentons’ Sydney office. Dentons is a global law firm, providing legal services worldwide through its member firms and affiliates. Through Dentons, Protect My Idea clients have access to a broader legal team and additional intellectual property legal services where required, including court enforcement of IP rights, licensing agreements, IP disputes and broader legal support.

His patent experience includes drafting patent specifications and prosecuting applications in Australia, the United States, Europe and Asian countries, as well as international PCT applications, along with patent validity and infringement opinions, oppositions, enforcement and defending clients in infringement matters.

On the trade mark side it covers searching, filing applications, practical commercial advice, enforcement and oppositions. For designs, it covers applications, searching, enforcement and design validity and infringement opinions.

Protect My Idea was conceived to help individuals, SMEs and large companies fully achieve IP protection for innovative ideas in a manner that fits their commercialisation plans and budget.

“My aim is to give you clear, trusted professional service at an affordable lower fixed cost.”
